Strippövningar.

Olyckan med tornkorgen måste ju åtgärdas. Som jag kämpat med att få bort färgen! Här ovan ser du en del av de medel jag testat: maskintvättmedel, kaustiksoda, Mr Muscle ugnsrengöring, grönsåpa, ren alkohol och frostskyddsmedel för tryckluftsbromsar (T-röd ej med på bilden). Ren alkohol och frostskydd var de enda medel som gjorde någon riktig nytta, T-röd sådär. Alla tre de medlen är alkohol i princip. Man får räkna med att gnugga och ha sig för att få bort färgen, en del bitar har trillat av som synes…

Stripping Exercises.

Something had to be done about the turret basket mishap. Man, I’ve been struggling with with that stubborn colour! Here are some of the tested products: Machine laundry detergent, Caustic Soda (for cleaning clogged waterpipes a.s.o.), green soap (strong), pure alcohol, antifrosting for (pressurised air) brake systems. Pure alcohol and the antifosting products were the only ones doing anything really. You will still have to rub and scrub quite alot, hence the loose parts in the picture…

Jag airbrushade det jag vill ha vitt först och maskerade sedan av det mycket grovt på direkten, så fort färgen var yttorr (passade på att måla några galler och radion under tiden). Det blev en del overspray och några små vita färgflagor som släppte, med overspray kan jag justera med pensel, och flagorna kan jag faktiskt utnyttja till min fördel.

First I airbrushed the white parts, and then I did a very rough masking over those parts as soon as the paint was dry to a gentle touch (painted some photoetch grilles and the radio in the meantime). There was some overspray and a couple of loosened white paintflakes, but the overspray is easily corrected with a brush, and the flakes can be used to my advantage when weathering.

Och här är resultatet, tillbaka till ruta ett igen då liksom. Meeen, inget ont som inte för något gott med sig: korgen får mycket mer färgvariation än jag tänkt från början (jag har nu tillgång till ett fantastisk bildmaterial jag inte hade från början), och så har jag ju en jäkla massa rengöringsprodukter…

And here’s the result, feels like I’ve been here before! But I think this little mishap turned out to be kind of positive in the end anyway: the basket will be much more varied colour-wise than originally planned (I now have access to some great photo sources I did not have originally), and, hey, I have quite an impressive stock of household cleaning products now…
