King Tiger 1:16 – #42 4

Shovelling it.

Amazing, not many pieces left to clean up before I can fire up that airbrush again!

Look at that steering guide pin on the shovel, now that’s a big pin! Absurd placement of it too, easiest solution is to just snip it off and use it as ”landfiller” for the guiding hole.

Photoetch permanently in place. Underside of the etch is already primed, as it would be very difficult to reach that area now. The front two late pattern screen frames are not correct (the two braces in the middle shouldn’t be there really) but I’ll leave that be on this build…

I’ve blocked in some details on the radio stuff with black, greyblack and greybrown. The decals (wich are really bad: no detail, text unreadable) have also been applied. As I’ve previously complained about, the radio and it’s rack is wack(ed), loads of errors.

And here’s an overview of today’s work. All built out of the box except for the lamp lead wich was replaced with some copper wire.

Hans :)–you must be feeling better—nice new pictures for me to ogle!–you are doing a tremendous job. i understand it is OOB, and there are inaccuraces, and you are doing as a contract build, but still the beauty of your skills is shining thru. Aber is releasing thier photo etch for this model within days, and also Archer will be releasing decals for instrument panel and much, much more soon to be announced.–you should buy another one and go ’full boat’———best regards tread

    Hello Hans

I know you build thsi as a commission and out of the box but there are a copile of things that Trumpeter got wrong shown on your last pics.
First the small ”support” ”L” shaped brackets for the sledgehamemr head is in the wrong position, should be ”rotated” 180 degrees, the other thing which might be difficult to correct (if the netting is glued) are there should not be any ”extra” support ”ribs” under the ”extra” net that sits over the front air intakes, there are two on each frame). Trojca has these on his 1/16 Tiger II drawings of some strange reason. Will you come to Open this year, will you bring it? 🙂

    Cheers

    / Gunnar

    Hey Tread,
Oh dang, I’m really split in half here: I don’t feel lke ever building another one of these, BUT seeing all the good stuff on the way, hmmm, it’s really tempting!
Thanks for your most kind words, I am not worthy.
    Cheers,
    /Hans

    Hej Gunnar!
first now that i went through the M-L Gallery and found your build of the KT there: Wow, that is one hell of a fine build. Love the paintjob you did on that:

Wonder how many errors there are to be found in this kit? Hundreds for sure…
Sure I’ll be at the IPMS Open, but the KT will probably not be ready until then.
