In the Trenches.
Here’s yesterday’s distraction. I wanted a break from all the hassle with the interior so I thought I’d work some on the much more correct and less troublesome exterior. Yeah, right…
Jag är inte riktigt övertygad av kopparvajern som ska föreställa bogservajer. Den är väldigt mjuk och lindningen släpper efter så fort man kröker vajern. Det syns ganska tydligt här hur den blivit mindre tät i svängen. De två bakre hållarna (delarna nr P15) har varken styrhål eller någon som helst markerad placering så det får man själv måtta upp. Samma sak på andra sidan med dessa.
I’m not really convinced about the copper wire that’s supposed to represent the towcable. The copper wire is very soft and the twisting loosens markedly when the wire is bent just a little. you can clearly see that in the above picture. The two rear cable fasteners have neither guidance holes or any marking s on the hull as where they’re supposed to be located, so you’ll have to check your references for that. Same thing with the fasteners on the other side.

And here’s the reason for today’s headline: this is the towcable endloop holder. Check out the width and depth of those holes!
Jag begriper ingenting. Varför har de gjort dessa diken?
I don’t get it. Whats the point with these huge steering guide holes?
På höger sida sitter även en tunnare vajer.
On the right side, there’s also a thinner wire.
Samma sak här, ett löjligt överdimensionerat styrhål.
Same thing here, a ridiculously oversized hole for that part.
Värt att notera är också att den tunna vajern är lite för lång, så gör inte mitt misstag och lita på original-längden. Alla vajrar ska förståss limmas mot skrovet så det ser snyggt ut.
Also worth noting is that the thinner wire’s too long out-of-the-box, so avoid glueing the front end fastener until the wire’s like you want it (I didn’t as you can see…). All wires/cables will be glued so I get a nice and proper hang.
Här är några fler bilder på kanon och stridsrum. Det var först efter att det liksom var försent som jag insåg att under färg-strippningen av du-vet-vad hade det förbaskade spacklet krympt. Nå, det får vara, och jag försöker nog bara maskera det så gott det går.
Here are a couple more pictures of the gun and fighting compartment. I didn’t realize until too late, that while I stripped the you-know-what the putty in the sinkholes apparently shrank from the alcohol! I’m leaving it be, and just try and disguise it as well as can be done.
Ser redan ganska coolt ut, eller? Bakstycket (tack för den Martin!) Ska få mer subtila metalleffekter.
Starting to look quite cool, yeah? The breech will be treated a bit more to get really subtle metallic effects.

Trumpeter gets very sloppy with some things—this is where your ’superior moddeling’techniques must take over:)– but in reality, you are right–no damn excuse for sloppiness like that on this kit—–when is TRUMP GONNA MATCH IN 1/16 what DRAGON can do in 1/35?–following this great effort closely—tread

Yeah, I’ve got their T34/76, so I know exactly what you mean. The KT is still an improvement, probably half as many punchmarks as the T-34. That one has more sinkmarks than I have bills!!!
About the sloppiness, I have a theory: they didn’t use ANY consultant outside the company, and they can’t read English…

Hej Hasse. The build is still as captivating as it was in the beginning … great work. It may be time to break out the magic sculpt, to add welds to all those little hull details … a lot of extra work … but it looks great and will take care of ”crators” for locating holes!!

The name you’r after is the breach block or ”Kil” in Swedish.
Regarding the wires I don’t think you should make them hang to much as they are usually hard as hell in real life. Even thin wires have a life of their own. Go check some wires on som construction equipment and you will see what I mean. Otherwise I’m mighty impressed of your work. When it comes to the surface I say like I’ve done before, don’t overdo it. If you look at pictures of KT:s in museums there is not much of a ”cast” surface. The plates where rolled and therefor should be very flat.

The breech block is the part that goes up and closes the cannon tube before firing (not mounted in the picture), right? and the breech is the whole thingamagig shown in the picture? In swedish slutstycke med kil?
The wires will be glued down a little length at a time, I know what you mean and we have the same idea there. However, to my surprise when looking at original pictures, the thinner wire on the right side could indeed be drastically bent around the holders. Perhaps because of the tensioning/fastening device up front.
I won’t do any stucturing of the rolled plates. If I did a superdetailed build I’d give it some very light gouges only and perhaps those veritcal ”bands” you can often see on rolled steel.

Very very nice! I’m impressed! I Work with modern armoured wehicles, and they are worn exactly the same as your modell.
Slutstycke används främst när det gäller handeldvapen, bakstycke med kil skulle jag kalla den delen som du refererar till.
