Ett kraftpaket som inte går av för hackor…

Jag håller fortfarande på med motorn. Ett riktigt invecklat bygge i sig, bestående av 134 delar! Inga konstigheter i konstruktionen, men det krävs en hel del tålamod.

Cool Engine…

Work on the engine continues. Quite involved piece of the kit, made up of no less than 134 parts!  No trouble in the construction, but you do need a lot of patience.

Vad som slår mig är hur liten, kompakt motorn (Maybach HL 230 P30) är med tanke på att det är en V12:a. Verkligen ett under av tysk ingenjörskonst. I ”Tigerfibel”, instruktionsboken som delades ut till alla Tigerbesättningar står det: ”Med en liter i tanken kan du köra 200 meter”.
Det är alltså inte läge att ta Tigern till City Gross och veckohandla 😀
Tigerfibel, förresten. Det var den första militära instruktionsboken som tilltalade soldaten på ett enkelt och lättbegripligt, ofta humoristisk och ekivokt (tecknade lättklädda damer är ymnigt förekommande i skriften), sätt. Något som sedan apades efter av de flera nationer.

The engine (Maybach HL 230 P30) is surprisingly small, being a V12. Truly a German Engineering wonder. In the ”Tigerfibel”, the instruction manual given to all Tiger crewmen it says: ”With one litre of fuel in the tanks you can travel 200 metres”. Not a good idea to take the tank to do the weekly shopping, then 😀
Talking about the Tigerfibel… this was the first military manual that had a lighthearted and easy to grasp language, often both humoristic and quite camp (lots of drawn lightly clad women with hefty bosoms). The approach was later taken up by many other armies.
