About Modelling Emhar’s 1/72 Kit

This is my 1/72 German panzer A7V, built from the Emhar kit.

Emhar’s braille-scale A7V is a simple kit, yet offers a commendably delicate detail. The assembly is straightforward with no show-stoppers, making this a perfect kit for an in-between project.

I painted my model using an airbrush. A wash of artists oils was applied to pick up the fine detail. Then I weathered the model quite thoroughly using pastel chalk powder and drybrushing.

Armour models in this scale win very much in appearance if they are displayed on an effective base. Having picked a suitable piece of wood, I formed the terrain from plaster of Paris. The mud was simulated by applying a layer of ground coffee mixed with carpenter’s glue. Everything was airbrushed in a suitable shade of wet mud.

Photographing 1/72 vehicles requires proper gear for macro photography. I use my Sony R1 camera and additional macro lenses for the results shown in this article. It is my favourite equipment for model photography and I can heartily recommend it.
