Jag har ibland sett frågan ställas om vad som skiljer dom olika byggsatserna till JAS 39 Gripen åt. Jag tänkte försöka ge ett litet svar här.
I have sometimes seen the question of what distinguishes the different kits for the JAS 39 Gripen. I will try to give a small answer here.
Svaret är: Det är samma byggsats med variation i beväpning och dekaler. Ibland inte ens det. Jag tar dom i bokstavsordning.
The answer is: It’s the same kit with a variety of weapons and decals. Sometimes not even that. I will take them in alphabetical order.
Airfix 04043 – JAS 39 Gripen
Dekaler till den svarta prototyp -2 och till en tidig seriemaskin.
Decals to the black prototype -2 and an early production machine.
Här är dom delar som kan skilja mellan satserna. Airfix har jaktbeväpning.
Here are the parts that can differentiate between batches. Airfix has fighter armament.
Bilek 984 – JAS 39C Gripen
En 39C enligt lådan. Plasten har inte ändrats för att få en 39C. Den har exakt samma innehåll som Italeri.
A 39C according to the box. The plastic has not been changed in order to get a 39C. It has exactly the same content as Italeri.
Dekaler till en Tjeckisk maskin och ett litet etsark med nya fälgsidor och instrumentpanel till en C-modell.
Det följer med en plåt som ska föreställa den nya APU’n men buktar neråt istället för att ge en bulle uppåt. Fenan är fortfarande till en A-modell.
Decals for a Czech machine and a small etch fret with new wheel covers and instrument panel for a C-model.
It comes with an etch part for the new APU but it curves downward instead of bulbing upwards. The fin is still for an A model.
Beväpningen är för attackuppdrag.
Armament is for attack missions.
Italeri 008 – JAS 39A Gripen
Originalutgåvan från Italeri.
Original edition of Italeri.
Dekaler till två tidiga med gulblå kronmärken och en med low wiz märkning.
Decals for two early planes with Yellow Blue crown badges, and one with low wiz marking.
Attackbeväpning.
It also have the armament for attack missions.
Italeri 1306 – JAS 39 Gripen
Italeris senare utgåva har exakt samma plastinnehåll som den tidigare utgåvan.
Italeri later edition has exactly the same plastic content as the previous release.
Det enda som skiljer är dekalerna. En svensk A med jubileumsdekaler. Dessutom Ungerska, Tjeckiska och Sydafrikanska märkningar men dom är till C-versionen som inte kan byggas med denna sats.
The only difference is the decals. A Swedish 39A with commemorative decals. In addition, Hungarian, Czech and South African labels but they are C version which can’t be built with this kit.
Revell 04611 – JAS 39A Gripen
Här har vi samma innehåll som i Airfixlådan.
Here we have the same content as the Airfix issue.

Tamiya 60759 – JAS 39A Gripen
Detta är Italeris ursprungssats i en ny låda för den japanska marknaden.
This is the original Italeri kit in a new box for the Japanese market.
Samma dekaler som i Italerisatsen.
The same decals as in the Italeri kit.

Bilek 975 – JAS 39C/D Gripen
C/D står det på lådan men delar endast till en 39B
It says C/D on the box but has only parts for a 39B
Märkning till två tjeckiska, två ungerska och en sydafrikansk 39D. Ingen ets eller andra delar till en C eller D variant i satsen.
Markings for two Czech, two Hungarian and one South African 39D. No etch or other parts of a C or D variant in the kit.

Italeri 1216 – JAS 39B Gripen

Revell 4374 -SAAB JAS 39 Gripen
Så en liten varning. Revell gav ursprungligen ut en modell av Gripen- prototypen med gul-blå ränder. Detta är inte samma modell som de andra. Den gavs ut innan alla fakta släppts om Gripen.
Finally a little warning. Revell initially gave out a model of Gripen prototype with the yellow-blue stripes. That is not the same model as these. It was released before all the facts were released about the Gripen.
Den påminner lite om en Gripen men det är inte mycket som är korrekt på modellen. Hade du tänkt köpa den för att använda dekalerna till en av ovanstående satser så kan jag säga att dom inte kommer att passa.
It is somewhat reminiscent of a Gripen but there isn’t much that is correct on the model. Íf you thought about buying this kit to use decals to one of the above kits, I can say that they will not fit.
Jag har gjort en snabbkoll och det verkar som om man kommer behöva tre dekalark om man vill använda dom gulblå ränderna. Gripenloggan på fenan borde dock gå att använda om man målar ränderna istället.
I made a quick check and it seems that you will need three decal sets if you want to use the stripes. The Gripen logo on the fin might be possible to use if you paint the stripes instead.
En uppdatering: Nu har jag byggt en prototyp från Italeris byggsats med dom gamla Revelldekalerna. (https://baecklund.eu/scalemodels/72/39-1.html) och det visade sig att det verkligen behövdes tre ark.
