Hello !

I want to convert a Gripen C to Gripen E, 1/72 and 1/32 scale.
Please let me have how it's possible (plans, convertion set ...)

This is a rather difficult conversion - but of course a possible one. No sets are available (yet). Among other things, the whole area on the underside of the main wings has to be re-built and the main landing gears have to be moved from the body to the wings. I would advice you to check reference pictures on the Internet.

There are only concepts circulating online, the finalized shape is yet to be seen.
What is known thus far is that the undercarriage is moved to the wingroots. The air inlets will be bigger and the length is adjusted some what as is the wing span.
There might be more design changes to come tho. the prototype should be done by 2015.
What you see flying now is only a thech demonstrator hastily made out of a JAS 39 D and it´s not considered even a prototype.

If I were to do such a conversion today, with the ambition of making it a Swedish or Swiss aircraft I´d build the new heat exchanger intake in the fin root, a fatter wing root based on the Gripen Demo aircraft, add eyes for the MAWS system, add an IRST in front of the wind screen. If I was to be really serious I´d insert a plug in the middle of the fuselage, and make the main wings correspondingly longer and wider, since SAAB official data says the 39E is going to be slightly longer and wider than the 39C.
I´d leave the cockpit as it is. As far as I have heard, there will be no wide screen TV in the meatbox.

What i've heard the nosegear will be changed to a single wheel configuration, so if doing a wheels down 39E it's not only the main gear that needs changing.
