Golden Model 2018 - next show in Riga

Hello my friends,

Golden Model is a scale model show in Riga (Latvia) running every second year. And many of you already been there.

Here I want to give you short update to align your expectations and plans.
This time the show will skip one more year and all of you are very welcome in August 2018.

The subject of the show is "Sea battles".
This include not only any ships or U-boats, but also any navy aviation (like flying boats, carrier aircrafts, etc) and amphibians or tanks with equipment to cross rivers or lakes. And of cause dioramas and figurines.
Also we'll accept none-subject related models. But I believe the subject is wide enough for everyone and you can find something in your stash in the next 1.5 years to get it ready for the show.

Hello Stellan,

The idea is to align the dates with city festival dates, which usually are in the middle of the August.
Most probably dates will be 10th - 12th of August 2018. Or the next weekend.
I will find exact dates in beginning 2018 when Riga take a decision about celebration.

By the way what is your opinion about show during Riga Festival?
From one hand it is a good chance to spend nice family weekend. From other hand - less time on chats with modellers and less chance to attend workshops...

OK, thanks for narrowing down the dates.

Hmm question is if hard core modelers will bring families or will go to see he town with them ...but I guess it could be a good opportunity for family to do a bit of it all. I think it was nice last time to make it a part of the rest of the festivities. Set the date to be the same as the festival, please.

Now I can postpone the decision, wether I should rent a car, fill it with ship models and drive Berlin-Riga and back.

Ulf, right, it's all about planning. I learn this working for a long time with Danes and Swedes
I believe you will be one of the top contributors in regards to the theme of the show.
Hopefully there will be few more with ships from Scandinavia and Germany

Ahhhh I´m totally confused about the year...thought it to be next year but it´s going to be even later than that. Anyway, stick to festival dates.
