Hur gör man träd?
Hur gör man träd?

Re: Hur gör man träd?
What type of trees and what season? How many? What size are you aiming for? How much are you willing to spend/what detail level are you after? Will the tree be part of the storyline or background .... if the tree needs to be a certain shape or just fill space?
These are important questions, because you can decide then what method suits your needs rather than have an elaborate, time consuming method when many trees are needed. If the tree is small and features in the storyline, you can buy etched leave sets to add to the tree frame/have a high detail level, but a space filler in the background can be made from frame and sea foam and leave sprinkel. Woodland Scenics have very useful stuff, as well as Heki, miniNatur, Joefix, Sweetwater scenery, etc. PlusModel do nice painted paper leave sets, that can be added individually or scattered for autumn effects. Quality varies as does price, so its better to surf a bit and find out what you want and willing to pay.
The tree frame can be made with wires (pad out with cheap material ... paper maché or tape) and add texture/sculpt with putty. This way you can control the shape of the tree better if you want the shape to conform to the storyline. This can also be done with wooden dowels of different diameter. A cheaper version could be to use real branches, but they should be dried out for a period first. For smaller trees/bushes people have used root systems, again dried and different flocking methods to add foilage. Using several methods is also possible.
Personally I would go for less tree and more detail, but thats me. MiniNatur have some of the best branch/leave sets available. Packets cost about £8 each from El Greco. I bought a few and was very impressed with them.
Check out YouTube. There are a lot of online tutorials. Some are very basic, railroading orientated, but there are a few good quality ones as well.
Hopefully that helps some. If you have more specific questions, I can add some more info ... even send some articles from the archives.

Re: Hur gör man träd?
Men i alla fall...

Re: Hur gör man träd?
